1. What is your artwork about? Summarize how you chose to interpret the theme of identity. Our artwork is about the effects of society on individuality. We chose to interpret the theme of identity by saying society effects different types of people in different ways. For example, certain people may get hurt depending on what society is doing, while other people may get stronger depending on society. Society is the control group, while everything around society is changing. Peoples identity is depedent on what society makes and thinks of them. Society can either make or break people. Thats what we wanted to show in our project. 2. How did you plan? Show images of each of the three planning activities you completed. Include captions for each photo. First- We came up with our question to base our thoughts of off. Our question was How society effects individuality. Second- We chose fruit to represent people. We had to decide what each fruit was going to represent which types of people. Third- We decided to take pictures and print them out to put on a black poster board. We then decided how we were going to arrange the photos. 3. How did you use media (art supplies), images and or text communicate (write about the identity project or your illustration)?. How effective is the work you produced?
We used image to communicate. We took a series of photos to communicate to others, how society effects individuality. The work we produced I feel looked really nice. I feel like the message we showed was amazing. Also, the black background made you focus on what was happening in the pictures, which i thought was cool. For my illustration, ii was happy with the outcome. I felt like it told the story of the song i chose.

1. How has your thinking about working with limitations changed during this unit? My thinking about working with limitations has changed during this unit because towards the beginning of the unit I thought it was going to be very hard but as I kept working with it it got easier. I feel as though you can't let limitations hold you back. You have to learn how to work with limitations and you them to your advantage. I feel like limitations can be used for the better and you could end up producing better work because of your "limitation". I don't feel like a limitation is actually a limitation because it may hold you back at first but with a little bit of work I feel like you can use make amazing art. 2. What limitation did you pick to work with for your final project? Why did you select it and were you happy with how your work turned out? I picked glass to work with for my final project. I felt like I could make amazing art using glass. Also, I liked the idea of using glass. I selected glass because I thought it would be a good idea to try something new. Also, I've always wanted to use glass with paint and see how it would turn out. I am very happy with the way my work turned out. I am happy with it because I feel like it is unique and cool. 1.What did you learn about observation and how to use it in your art art during this unit? I learned that observation is "doing" from what you see. For example, I looked at a picture and drew what I saw with some changes. I drew a picture of a bird caught in a snow storm. I drew the bird with a dark sky in the background. I changed the fact that I didn't put the aspect of snow in my painting. Also, the picture I used as insperation was in black and white, but I added different shades of brown to the bird to add color to the painting. Overall, I used the idea of the picture and added some changes to make the painting my own. I learned that you have to pay attention to detail and really look at what you are observing. I saw that some people took pictures and cut them up to make a new type of picture which is observation. This is observation because you would take a picture but change things about it to make it your own.
1. What did you learn about painting? I feel like I have learned so much throughtout this painting unit. I am completely inlove with painting, and even though I paint a lot outside of school I feel like I have learned a lot from this unit. I usually do not use watercolor paint, but I found that watercolor paint is very fun to work with. I think that watercolor blends well together and you can do a lot with watercolor. I learned that you can put salt on it to make a cool design. Also, I learned that you can use markers to blend with watercolors to make a nice painting. I use acrylic paint a lot, and I learned that brush strokes are important and you can make a lot of different textures with acrylic paint. My favorite paint to use is acrylic paint. In conclusion, I feel like I have leaned a lot about painting during this unit, and I am happy to be able to use some of the techniques I learned during this unit. 1. How have your artistic skills grown during the first few weeks of art? During the first few weeks of art I didn't know much about different techniques. I have learned a lot more about art, for example shading is a technique that i have learned to use throughout art. I believe I have grown a lot as an artist because I know how to shade with colored pencils and take the idea of two characters and making them one. Certain skills such as using charcol have helped me grow as an artist. 2. How has your thinking about what makes art original changed during this unit? I have learned that great artist steal. The fact of ever thinking that artist steal was weird to me, but I know now that artist take a previous idea and change it to make it their own. There is no such thing as original art because art can be traced back for many years. All artist ideas came from a past artist, but good artist just take their idea and make it better. 3. What successes or challenges have you had while working on this unit? Some successes that I have had during this unit include shading with the colored pencil. I feel like learning how to do this was very helpful. Also, the fact that i was able to combine two ideas and transform them to make one idea. Some challenges that i have had during this unit include drawing the sign language hands. I found those exercises to be very difficult due to the fact that drawing the fingers was hard for me. Another challenge that i have had during this unit was drawing a realistic eye. I found drawing the eye to be hard because of all the detail you had to have to make the eye look realistic.
